Reception Ability

Reception is the ability to manage others’ emotions that are expressed directly or indirectly. This can be difficult because of the emotional contagion effect discussed above in the expression of emotions.

It appears that our ability to feel the emotions of others is the price we pay for being social animals. Our ability to work in groups has been critical to our survival versus other species. Our hunter-gatherer ancestors worked in groups when encountering animals that were much bigger and stronger than they were. By working in teams (strength in numbers), we were able to hunt and procure food.
