Idea Number 1: I Am a Leader

After decades of searching for the defining characteristics of a leader, science seems to have come to the conclusion that it’s a useless effort. Basically, it’s because leadership isn’t a quality of a leader, but rather a systemic and relational role.

Let’s remember that leadership is a type of human relationship that is established between one member of the group and the rest. The group trusts the leader to guide them in what she feels is the best path for everyone. As a relationship, leadership is similar to other types of relationships, for example, friendship, love, coaching, or even that between a client and vendor.
