Conclusion

This chapter has demonstrated how to add, modify, and delete data in LDAP directories. We have presented some stand-alone examples of code for handling tasks such as inserting photographs into the directory. In addition, we have presented complete programs to move or delete an entire subtree. All these programs are strong tools in the arsenal of the LDAP programmer. The final discussion focused on the use of groups, both static and dynamic, for managing at a less granular but more powerful and expressive level than that of individual users. Armed with the information from this chapter, you should have no trouble writing applications that update and maintain LDAP directory content.
