Chapter 6. Creating and Maintaining Information

Chapter 5 described various methods for retrieving and processing data under program control. This chapter will focus on placing data into the directory and manipulating it there, including entering new data, altering existing data, or deleting data that is no longer necessary.

In many cases software may need to update or alter the directory; for example, a user has changed her home phone number, a reorganization has caused the manager of a series of employees to change, or a user wants to alter her password.
