Creating a list of tables
You already know all you need to create and customize a list of tables! The file, where LaTeX collects the captions of the tables, has the extension .lot, and that's why the first argument of \addtocontents would be lot. Everything works analogous, like \listoftables, \tablename, and \listtablename.
