Abstract

The chapter outlines recent studies in layer-by-layer synthesis of 3-D porous scaffolds, including the biocompatibility of the 3-D-matrix from nitinol (NiTi intermetallic phase) and nitinol with hydroxyapatite in comparison with titanium. The correlation between computer-aided modelling of 3-D scaffolds, optimal laser fabrication regimes, microstructure, and chemical and biological properties is discussed.
