The validation of user input is extremely important in order to avoid security risks that may arise. One such risk, as explained in the Using content providers section, is SQL injection. The malicious injection of SQL script can be prevented by the use of parameterized queries and the extensive sanitation of inputs used in raw SQL queries.
In addition to this, inputs retrieved from external storage must be appropriately validated because external storage is not a trusted data source.
