Arabic is the official language of the United Arab Emirates and of the other 21 countries that make up the Arab League. However, English is considered the language of business and is widely spoken. Almost all road signs are in both English and Arabic. Native Emiratis speak the Gulf dialect of Arabic, but the United Arab Emirates attracts workers from all over the Arab world, so many variants of Arabic can be heard, as well as other languages.
