1. Family is exceedingly important in Turkey—and is often a good topic of conversation. If your prospect has children, he or she will probably enjoy talking about them.
2. In Istanbul, be familiar with some of the more significant cultural sites, such as the Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sophia, and the Blue Mosque. Sports are also a good topic for conversation, since many Turks are avid sports fans. Football (soccer) is by far the most popular sport. Basketball and volleyball are also popular, and in the Olympics, Turkish weightlifters have won several gold medals. Motor sports and sailing have been increasing in popularity.
