Advertising in South Africa is very visual. This is due to the multitude of languages in South Africa, as well as the disparity in educational levels. Therefore, as much as possible, try to tell the entire story graphically.

As in many countries, humor in advertising sells very well. Of course, it can be difficult to find something that all of South Africa’s many cultures will laugh at (and not be offended by). Animals are often a good choice. A good example is the highly successful Buddy the Boxer campaign for Toyota from Draftfcb South Africa. This series of ads featured a live dog that spoke via computer animation.
