DO I KISS, BOW, OR SHAKE HANDS?

GREETINGS VARY

Shaking hands is very important both when arriving and departing. After the first meeting with a male Italian associate, don’t cut off the handshake abruptly; he may be about to grasp your arm with his other hand as well.

Kisses are not ubiquitous at initial business meetings, but businesswomen often kiss each other on the cheek upon departure.

Constant eye contact is part of being engaging in Italy. Do not let your gaze wander aimlessly. You may appear easily distracted and superficial.
