15. Offers

Amazon is able to sell the Kindle Fire at the price point it does, in part, because of offers. Offers are advertisements that appear on the Lock screen of your Kindle Fire for a variety of services. These offers are updated over time, so you’ll see a variety of goods and services advertised on your Kindle Fire’s Lock screen.

Some might wonder why Amazon calls them “offers” instead of advertisements. In addition to displaying traditional ads, Amazon uses the offers functionality to give Kindle Fire owners access to special deals. For example, owners might receive $5 credits for music, discounts on Kindle books, and the like.
