About the Authors

Richard A. Morris is principal of Resource for Ownership Intelligence (ROI) Consulting, which helps family business owners grow and pass their business to subsequent generations. He is also an adjunct professor at Lake Forest Graduate School of Management. Previously, he spent many years working for the family business, Fel-Pro Inc. Morris has written articles for print media and is often quoted in the press. He received his MBA from Northwestern University.

Jayne Pearl has been a financial journalist for about thirty years, focusing mostly on family business and financial parenting. In addition to hundreds of articles, she is the author of Kids and Money: Giving Them the Savvy to Succeed Financially (Bloomberg Press, 1999) and the co-author of Keep or Sell Your Business: How to Make the Decision Every Private Company Faces (Dearborn Trade, 2000). She has appeared in numerous media outlets, including PBS, CNN, the Christian Science Monitor, CNBC's Power Lunch, NPR, Reuters, PRI, Forbes, Money, Parents, Parenting, Working Mother, US News & World Report, and Bankrate.com. Pearl was a senior editor at Family Business magazine and editor of a syndicated daily business public radio show.
