Why is this indicator important?

It is important for businesses to fill vacant posts. A failure to fill open jobs quickly will have a number of negative consequences, which include reduced efficiency (e.g. not enough staff to complete the work, existing workers having to cover the vacant job role), lost revenue (orders cannot be fulfilled, business does not run at full capacity) and costs (for e.g. hiring in temporary or agency staff).
