PART TWENTY-THREE

Relationships

Your ability to build and maintain relationships is a crucial element of your management practice. There is a great deal of evidence to support the idea that the people with the best networks are the most productive people, because they always know who to ask when they need something and their networks will support them in fulfilling their needs.

Management is not simply top-down – you need to develop and manage peer relationships and also manage upwards, anticipating your boss’s needs and being ready to deliver when asked. In this part you’ll find some models that will help you to think about your current working relationships and ways of enhancing them.
