EENC

The big picture

The EEC model is useful for simple, straightforward feedback. EENC is designed for more serious issues, when it is important that the team member be in no doubt that the issue is serious and that there will be consequences if the behaviour continues.

EENC stands for:

  • Example: what you have observed; be precise.
  • Emotion: how you, as manager, feel about it; state your feelings but do not display them.
  • Needs: what the team member needs to do about it.
  • Consequences: what will happen if they do or do not change their behaviour.
