The big picture

We have already encountered PMI as a filtering tool for brain-friendly brainstorming, but PMI can be used as a creative tool in its own right. Using PMI you can create something new from even the silliest sounding ideas. The concept comes from Edward de Bono, a leading light in the world of creative thinking.

When to use it

Use PMI to generate new ideas or to explore what may otherwise be cast off as silly or impractical ideas. It’s important that you, as a manager, encourage creative thinking in your team.
