VAK (visual, auditory, kinaesthetic)

The big picture

The VAK tool will help you to understand the senses that you and others use in processing thoughts. Knowing this allows you to talk to others in a way that maps to their subconscious thinking processes, creating rapport and showing them that you truly understand them.

We do not think in words, but use words as a filter or channel to express our thoughts. (Logically, if we thought in words, we would all speak the same language.) We take in information through our five basic senses – seeing, hearing, feeling, smelling and tasting – and we process those sensory inputs internally before using words to describe them to others.
