Benziger’s thinking styles assessment

The big picture

US researcher in psychology Katherine Benziger has produced an assessment tool which determines the quadrant of the brain you use most naturally; using areas outside the preferred quadrant is tiring and may be damaging as it uses 100 per cent more energy than the preferred quadrant. The four quadrants of the brain are described as frontal left, frontal right, basal left and basal right (see Figure 29.1).

Just as we have a preference for using a particular hand, eye or ear, each of us shows a preference for using a particular quadrant of the brain. The functions of each quadrant of the brain are as follows:
