Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA)

The Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA) was founded in 1975 by Rem Koolhaas (1944–) and others. In 2000 Koolhas was awarded the Pritzker Prize, an important international award (Kenzo Tange won it in 1987), as much for his writing and ideas as for his built work. At that time, the practice’s largest commission was the redevelopment of an area of Lille in France, including the station for the rail-link under construction between London, Paris and Brussels, which gave Lille new prominence.
