Chapter Ten Email disappears?

Is email a very successful failure? Email messages are free and they’re easy to send—good for us but good for spammers too. Email is used for tasks, documents, making contacts. It was designed for none of these activities. We may feel like we’re “living” in our inbox. But are we doing the things we really want to be doing? In one vision of the future, email is extended to more fully support its currently ad hoc uses. In another vision, email as we know it today goes away altogether.
