Chapter 12. MPLS and Traffic Engineering

As the Internet has grown, more and more platforms are accessing it and in doing so generating an ever-increasing amount of traffic. Some of these platforms are server farms that may store user data or provide streaming e-learning content. Then there are the more complex networks in the enterprise infrastructure that may span multiple geographic regions, even the world. Add to this the Internet backbone, which is comprised of several heterogeneous data networks, each providing different levels of connectivity.
