Book Conventions

We've used a few common conventions within this field guide to help you work with Juniper Networks information and content.

We use marginalia to call attention to references and key topics. These can generally be one of four usages:

  • A cross-reference within this book.

  • A cross-reference to the Juniper Networks documentation. Some are explicit, and some might seem vague depending on the reference itself. For references that seem vague, we suggest using the comprehensive index manual or the book's index to help you find exactly what you need. The documentation undergoes constant change, so we try to provide references that will not go out of date quickly.

  • A cross-reference to other publications such as RFCs.

  • A key idea, concept, or note ...
