Implementing basic form validation

At the most basic level of form validation, you will need to be able to prevent the user from submitting empty values. This recipe will provide the HTML and CSS code for a web form that will be used for recipes 1 through 8 of this chapter.

Getting ready

Using your favorite text editor or IDE, create a blank HTML page in an easily accessible location and save this file as recipe-1.html. Ensure that you have the latest version of jQuery downloaded to the same location as this HTML file.

This HTML page will form the basis of most of this chapter, so remember to keep it after you have completed this recipe.
