USING BREADCRUMBS ON YOUR SITE

Breadcrumbs are another type of module. The name comes from the fairy tale of Hansel and Gretel. As they walked through the woods, they crumbled up a piece of bread and left a trail of crumbs they could follow back to more familiar territory. Likewise, breadcrumbs on a website show the hierarchy of links you have already clicked, such as the following:

Home images About images Mission & Vision

This breadcrumb says you're currently on the Mission & Vision page. This page is part of the subnavigation for the About portion of the website. About is one of the top-level navigation items for the site. The word About is a clickable link that takes you back to the top-level page for this portion of the website. Home is also clickable and returns you to the home page.

Breadcrumbs are a very useful tool for large websites that contain a significant amount of content nested several levels deep. If your website has 50 pages or more, you might consider including breadcrumbs as an additional navigation option for the site.

Although our website is not very big, we'll include breadcrumbs so that you get a sense of what they are and how to configure them.
