TRY IT

Give some of the items presented in this chapter a whirl by adding them to your own site. Get a Paste from Word button for TinyMCE, create links to other websites in the text of articles, set global article parameters, and test out the Author Alias setting.

Lesson Requirements

Make sure you have your Joomla site up and running, and you're logged into the back end.

Step-by-Step

  1. Adjust your TinyMCE settings as described to get the Paste from Word button available to you. If you have articles created in Word, you may wish to revise them in Joomla via the Paste from Word button, by deleting what you had pasted there before and replacing with the Paste from Word button.
  2. Create links to other websites within article text.
  3. You may wish to create links to pages within the site now, just for practice, but don't spend a lot of time on this. Once I've covered menus in a few lessons, you may wish to come back to this.
  4. Try changing the created date and the start or finish publishing dates for an article or two.
  5. Change an author name via the Author Alias setting.
  6. Set the article parameters for the website.
