SECTION PARAMETERS

While we're in the editing screen for our About section, let's look at some of the other section options available. In order to create a section, you must specify a title. The other information described here is strictly optional:

  • Published: Located just under the Alias field, this indicates whether the section is visible on the public website. If you look at the front end of the website, you'll see nothing has changed since you first looked at it a few lessons ago.
  • Order: Enables you to put your sections in a specific order within the Section Manager.
  • Access Level: Indicates who can see this particular section (and the categories and articles within it). In general, you'll want to set this to Public, which means anyone visiting the front end of the website can see the content without logging in. Registered and Special require a login to view the content. You'll learn more about Registered and Special in Lesson 32.

  • Description: This is some text describing the section, which may appear at the top of certain kinds of pages. This is covered in more detail in a later lesson. For now, leave this blank.

As you've seen, sections are easy to edit, so it's simple to add these parameters later. As you progress farther in building the website, it will be clearer when these parameters are required. For now, all you need to specify ...
