MAKING SECTIONS AND CATEGORIES USEFUL
Think of sections and categories as useful containers for separating the articles on your website into neat piles.
For example, consider the clothes in your closet. How could you sort these in order to quickly and easily find what you're looking for? You could combine by the type of clothing: pants, shirts, skirts, dresses, jackets, sweaters; or you could sort by colors: red, blue, green, yellow, pink, black; or you could sort by season: winter clothes and summer clothes.
Sections and categories are attributes of each article that serve as a way to “grab” certain articles and do things with them. For example, Joomla can create a blog from a group of articles. The article group is either a section-based blog or a category-based blog. You could put a series of article titles on a page. Which article titles show up there? Depends on the section and category to which each article was assigned.
