WHO WILL VISIT THE WEBSITE?

It's very important to know to whom your website speaks. The answer is never “anyone who is interested in this topic.” The more specific you can be about your target audience, the more refined your message can become. When you talk to your target audience, you are more likely to engage them. That's particularly important if you're trying to convince someone to purchase something or donate something, but it's an important characteristic of any site where you want visitors to feel included as part of a community.

In the case of FES, we can narrow down our audience fairly quickly by thinking carefully and in detail about our key users. They would include:

  • Parents of current students are likely to be heavy users of this information.
  • Parents of incoming students will find the information helpful. Each year, parents of school-age children must enroll them in kindergarten. In addition, parents new to the area, at any time of year, will need information about enrolling their children in the appropriate grades.
  • Parents considering a move to the area will use the website to evaluate how suitable this school is for their child. They may choose to move into the district based on what they read on the website.
  • Faculty and staff may get information from the website about what's happening around the school. They may also wish to use the website to communicate what they're teaching to parents and the community.
