HOW WILL THE WEBSITE HELP TO ACHIEVE THE GOAL?

Once you understand an entity's goals and what it is trying to accomplish, you are in a position to make some recommendations about how the website can be used to meet those goals.

In our example scenario, the following ideas might be useful:

  • FES would like more parents involved with the school in general and in the classroom in particular. The website could offer a place for interested parents to learn what opportunities exist for volunteering, as well as a way to indicate interest in volunteering.
  • Parent notices can easily be posted on the website. Other school news can also be posted on the website, as well as any newsletters or other communications.
  • With signed permission statements from parents, photos from recent events could be posted on the website, showing children, parents, and staff having fun at various school activities. When other parents see the photos of the activities, they may be more inclined to participate in the next event.
  • Because there are many events throughout the year, a consistent way of featuring those events should be present on the website.

Although it's not a goal, background information about the school should also be included on the website, such as brief descriptions of the teachers involved at each grade level, as well as what information is taught. The website could also include links to other local elementary schools and the school district website.
