HOW THIS BOOK IS STRUCTURED

The book is organized in a linear manner, from planning and building the website through site completion, including site maintenance.

Section I, “Before You Start Clicking Buttons,” is all about understanding Joomla, planning your website, purchasing a domain name, and purchasing web hosting for your website.

Section II, “A First Look at Joomla!,” covers installing Joomla and getting familiar with the interface.

Section III, “Sections, Categories, and Articles in Joomla!,” talks about getting all of your content, images, PDFs, and other documents into Joomla in a wide variety of formats and layouts.

Section IV, “Joomla! Menus,” links all the great content created in Section III to the website for public viewing.

Section V, “Joomla! Templates and Modules,” covers making the website look pretty using free and commercially available templates. It seems like a long time to wait for this step, as most people want to start their project by making their website pretty (sometimes before it's even planned!). However, it's important to have the content in place first, so you know what template will best fit the website you're building.
