WHO THIS BOOK IS FOR

Hobbyists and Joomla website owners, rejoice! Finally there is a Joomla book just for you. This book assumes you've never built a website before, so you don't need to know what a web application is or what a domain name or web hosting are, and you certainly don't need to know HTML.

I will walk hobbyists through the process of creating a Joomla website, from beginning to end, and with all of the details in between. I've listed plenty of references where you can learn more and get help as well.

If you already own a Joomla website that someone has built for you, this book is an excellent reference for remembering how to add content to the website, how to upload images and include them in articles, how to link to PDFs, and so much more.

Web developers will find this book too simple. I've left out some of the technical explanations entirely and smoothed over others. I've skipped over some of the geekier parts of Joomla. That's all very deliberate, because I already wrote a book for you — look for Joomla! Start to Finish: How to Plan, Execute, and Maintain Your Web Site (Wrox, 2010).

However, web developers should know that I intend to give a copy of this book to all my clients when I deliver their Joomla websites. This will be the bulk of the documentation they get to maintain their website. You might consider doing the same thing with your clients.
