The focus of Part Two is on the generic functions of managership: defining the task, planning, briefing, controlling, evaluating, supporting, motivating and seffing an example.

The actual shape or form these generic functions take depends on the levels of leadership responsibility within a business hierarchy.

Hence there are two clusters of Ideas in Part Two on the role and responsibilities of team leaders (or first-line managers) and operational business leaders (the old ‘middle managers’). The picture is completed in Part Three with the seven functions of strategic leadership.
