To lead a group discussion and also contribute to the discussion from time to time yourself, you will need to develop a set of leadership characteristics:
1. Clear and rapid thinking.
2. Attentive listening.
3. The ability to express yourself clearly and succinctly.
4. Being ready to clarify badly expressed views.
5. The ability to be impartial and impersonal.
6. Being a preventer of inappropriate interruptions.
7. Patience, tolerance and kindness.
8. The ability to be friendly but brisk and businesslike.
