Idea 22: Don’t overload your speech

When you speak to an audience there is always a time constraint – or there should be! You share an allocation of so much time and no more.

Therefore you have to be very clear about your intention or aim and what priorities that dictates for your material. Don’t overload the hold of your aircraft with so much unnecessary freight that you never get off the runway.

And avoid giving your listeners undue difficulties. In this context, simple refers to something that is not complicated or intricate and is therefore capable of being quickly grasped by the mind. It should not be confused with easy, which merely points to that which requires little effort to ...
