New ideas are essential to all human enterprise. Creativity is about having new and valuable ideas; innovation is about bringing them to market in the form of improved or new products and services.

Making analogies is often the trigger for new ideas. Creative thinking often begins with the perception of a relation – a spark of meaning – between two apparently unrelated things or ideas.

Really creative people have a wide span of relevance: they look far afield, even to remote places or times in history, for solutions to the problems they face.
