Idea 80: Make the best use of feedback

When a man says you are a horse laugh at him. When two men assert that you are a horse, give it a thought. And when three men say you are a horse, you had better go and buy a saddle for yourself.

Feedback is a term from electronics, for the phenomenon where some of an output returns to the sender in the form of an input. In our social life praise is a common form of it.

Not all feedback is as pleasing or as welcome as praise. On the other hand, you seldom learn anything when others praise you. Critical feedback can be sharper, especially for those short on humility, but it is definitely more instructive.
