Idea 49: Plan your day

Where no plan is laid, where the disposal of time is surrendered merely to the chance of incidents, chaos will soon reign.

At the end of each day, write down the five things – plus or minus two – that you plan to do tomorrow. This is your familiar to-do list.

In the framework I suggested earlier of Jacob's ladder (Idea 10), these are steps that lead you toward attaining your goals or objectives.

Remember also to remain flexible. Someone – such as a family member or important customer – may put in a claim on your time and they may deserve a higher priority than the next item on your list.
