When people who are successful in their field look back on their life in their later years, they can often identify one or two major turning points on their journey. Often these are times when an unexpected opportunity presented itself, which they had the imagination and judgment to recognize. And they found the courage to respond positively to it and to stretch their capability to new levels of achievement.

Such opportunities rarely come along, and they never tarry to take a sleeping person. So you need both patience and alertness, and a quality that John Keats called negative capability:
