Developing your Leadership Skills

Leadership is a symbiotic phenomenon. You will never go out into the street and meet someone who is just a leader. They will be a nurse and leader, a teacher and leader, a salesperson and leader, a soldier and leader, an administrator or manager and leader, and so on.

It is the vocational nurse, teacher or salesperson who tends to become a leader, because their heart and soul are in the business. They don't lack enthusiasm, for example, that key leadership quality. If they can develop the necessary leadership skills at whatever level they aspire to reach, they will be accepted by their colleagues as natural leaders. Leadership gives them a means of adding extra value.
