Time for action – a model for to go, please

Since every model editor has its own native format, you typically export the model to an exchange format. In the case of jMonkeyEngine, these formats are Ogre Mesh or Wavefront.

Keep using the mymodel.blend file that you just saved to BasicGame/assets/Textures/MyModel/. Let's start by practicing an Ogre Mesh conversion in Blender:

  1. Press A and verify that the model is selected (orange outline).
  2. Choose File | Export | Ogre 3d (Scene and Mesh) from the menu. The exporter window opens.
  3. In the path field, make sure that the path ends in …/BasicGame/assets/Textures/MyModel/. Name the target file as mymodel.mesh.xml.
  4. Under Export Ogre, keep the defaults, but uncheck Force Camera, Force Lamps, and Export Scene; choose ...
