Wellness Programs

As a way to reduce health care expenditures, some companies have offered programs designed to encourage good health. These include weight-loss and stop-smoking programs.

If your company did not have a wellness program in place on March 23, 2010, you may qualify for a grant from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to start one.

Grants were available to employers with fewer than 100 employees who work 25 hours or more per week (the timing for applying has passed). Funding runs through the government’s 2015 fiscal year. Get information from HHS at www.hhs.gov/grants.
