Companies make new acquisitions; they adjust their systems to take advantage of expanded software functionality to keep their competitive edge. To meet these needs Oracle has built tools into their software to allow their clients great flexibility in upgrading and patching their software. This means that clients do not have to scrap all of their custom modifications to the software to take advantage of new functionality.
