Summary

Although the new age of Web services promises to offer a wealth of new business opportunities and Internet application solutions, there are many ancillary issues that need to be resolved first. These include organizing trading Webs that define the language terms (into taxonomies and ontologies) needed to interoperate with other business services. Tools and technologies to facilitate Web service adoption are already on the market, and businesses are evaluating the cost-benefits of the platform. This year, we should begin to see real Web services at play within organizations, with external Web services to follow afterwards.
