The MIDP includes support for the Generic Connection Framework (GCF). The GCF provides a fairly straightforward approach to extending connectivity for MIDlets indefinitely. Creating connections using the GCF involves using a concrete class named Connector. The Connector class is a factory. You employ the factory to create specific types of connections using interfaces derived from the Connection interface hierarchy, illustrated in Figure 7.5. The Connector class and the Connection interface hierarchy are both given by the javax.microedition.io package.
