6.8. What's Next
Now that we know Java syntax, have written a few programs, understand what to think about while planning an application, and have an environment in which to work, we can swing into action. The next section of the book, starting with Chapter 7, “Objects and Classes,” will start us doing more exciting things with classes and object-oriented programming, including full-fledged GUI software programs using serialized objects, files, and databases. So get an IDE that you like and let's hit the road.
