A registry has a variety of uses:
As electronic white, yellow, and green pages— A registry provides a variety of information about an enterprise and the Web service that it makes available for B2B interactions. The information made available through a registry includes the name, business identifiers, contact information, industry codes, product classifications, and technical information about services.
As a database of static data— A registry contains data and metadata.
