Name
NamedNodeMap.item( ) — return an element of a NamedNodeMap by position
Availability
DOM Level 1 Core
Synopsis
Node item(unsigned long index
);
Arguments
-
index
The position or index of the desired node.
Returns
The node at the specified position, or null
if
index
is less than zero or greater than or
equal to the length of the NamedNodeMap.
Description
This method returns a numbered element of a NamedNodeMap. In JavaScript, NamedNodeMap objects behave like read-only arrays, and you can use the node position as an array index within square brackets instead of calling this method.
Although the NamedNodeMap interface allows you to iterate through its
nodes by position, it does not represent an ordered collection of
nodes. Any changes made to the NamedNodeMap (such as by
removeNamedItem( )
or setNamedItem( )
) may result in a complete reordering of the elements.
Thus, you must not modify a NamedNodeMap while you are iterating
through its elements.
