How it works...

Monitoring events works similarly to collecting events in the data lake. A single stream processor observes all events from all streams and simply counts the domain events by event type, along with additional tags, such as region, stream, and source. Again, these counts are recorded as structured log statements and Datadog consumes these statements from CloudWatch Logs. Graphing the domain event metrics in a dashboard can provide great insight into the behavior of a system. We will see how to alert about the flow of domain events in the Creating alerts recipe.
