WML Decks from Scratch?
One of the areas of concern in generating the WML decks from scratch is the lack of maintenance of the two sets of JSPs, one each for HTML and WML. Changes to JSP expressions, scriptlets, and declarations would require changes to be made to both the JSPs that can be pretty risky if the changes are large.
In most cases, WML decks can be generated by a transformation of the HTML pages generated by one set of JSPs. This has brought forth the use of transcoders, like Websphere Transcoding Publisher, to generate content. These transcoders convert HTML into WML decks by applying some transformation rules specified by the user.
